Faronta tetera is een vlinder uit de familie van de uilen (Noctuidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1902 door John B. Smith. "A revision of the moths referred to the genus Leucania, with descriptions of new species." Proceedings of the United States National Museum, Vol. XXV - No. 1283 (1902), blz. 187. De soort werd gevonden in Arizona.
